Tax & accounting firms
Tax season has no room for downtime.
Your clients trust you with the most sensitive data they have. We keep the systems that hold it secure, documented and running — especially between January and April.
What we hear
Sound familiar?
A written security program you don’t have
The FTC Safeguards Rule requires one. IRS Publication 4557 tells you what belongs in it. Most small firms haven’t written it down.
Tax software that only one person understands
The server, the tax software, the remote access — set up years ago, and nobody wants to touch it.
Seasonal staff and remote work
People who need access for four months, from home, without opening the office network to the internet.
Phishing aimed at you specifically
Tax professionals are targeted every season with fake client emails and impersonated IRS notices.
How we work with you
Built around the filing calendar
We know what tax season asks of your systems, and we plan the work with you.
- Managed workstations, servers and Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace
- Support for tax software such as Drake, including the server it runs on
- Secure remote access for staff and seasonal hires
- Multi-factor sign-in, email filtering and endpoint protection
- Backups tested by restoring them
- Help writing and maintaining your written information security program
The specifics
The rules, in plain terms
FTC Safeguards Rule
Tax preparers are covered as financial institutions. The rule calls for a written information security program, a qualified person responsible for it, a risk assessment, access controls, encryption, multi-factor authentication, staff training and an incident plan. We help you put each piece in place and keep the evidence.
IRS Publication 4557
The IRS’s own guide to safeguarding taxpayer data. We use it as the checklist for your systems, and the Health Check tells you where you stand against it.
What we don’t claim
We don’t certify you as compliant — no one can sell you that. We do the technical work, document it, and give you what you need to show an examiner.
